Colour Disclaimer
Colour Disclaimer & Interactive Colour Preview Tool
At Edible Final Touch, we always try to print your design as close as possible to the file you provide. However, edible printing will not match a phone, tablet, or computer screen exactly. This page explains why, how to reduce colour surprises, and gives you an interactive colour tool to preview RGB, HEX, and estimated CMYK values.
Interactive Colour Converter & Preview
Use this tool to pick a colour, type a HEX code, adjust RGB sliders, and see an estimated CMYK conversion for reference.
Upload Your File to Inspect Colours
Upload an image, then move your mouse over it or tap on mobile to sample any visible colour. The tool will show the picked colour as HEX, RGB, estimated CMYK, and a simple colour name.
Why colours look different from screen to print
- Screens emit light. Printed edible sheets do not. This alone makes screen colours appear brighter and more vibrant.
- Each device is different. iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, tablets, and external monitors can all show the same file differently.
- Screen settings change colour. True Tone, Night Shift, Night Light, blue-light filters, vivid mode, and display warmth all affect what you see.
- Edible inks are not the same as standard inks. They usually print softer, less saturated, and more matte than commercial print.
- Edible paper changes output. Icing sheets, wafer paper, drink toppers, and other edible media all receive colour differently.
- Lighting matters. Daylight, warm indoor bulbs, venue lighting, and photography can all change perceived colour.
- Metallic and fluorescent effects are limited. Gold, silver, chrome, neon, glow, and reflective effects are not reproduced as true metallic or fluorescent finishes in edible printing.
How to avoid colour surprises
1) Prepare your file properly
- Send the original artwork file whenever possible.
- Avoid screenshots, social media downloads, and photos of a screen.
- Use high-resolution PNG, PDF, or high-quality JPG.
- Use sRGB as the file colour space when possible for artwork shared online.
- Embed a colour profile if your software allows it.
- Do not over-edit or repeatedly save the same file, which can reduce image quality.
2) Check your screen before approving artwork
- Turn off True Tone, Night Shift, Night Light, and other warm-colour filters.
- Set screen brightness to a moderate level rather than very high brightness.
- Review the file in balanced daylight or neutral indoor light.
- If you can, compare the same file on more than one device.
3) If colour is critical for a logo or brand
- Let us know colour accuracy is important before production.
- Provide the cleanest source file available.
- Vector PDF or transparent PNG is preferred for logos.
- Understand that edible printing still has limitations and exact matching cannot be guaranteed.
- If timing allows, ask about a test print or sample first.
Recommended customer file setup
| Item | Recommended setup |
|---|---|
| Colour space | sRGB |
| Best file formats | PNG, PDF, or high-quality JPG |
| Profile | Embed ICC profile if available |
| For logos | Vector PDF or transparent PNG preferred |
| For photos | Original high-quality image, not screenshot |
| Avoid | Low-resolution files, screenshots, filtered images, compressed social-media images, photos of a monitor |

I orderd edible paper from Edible Final Touch and the quick service and fast shipping is greatly apprecited and such a bonus when you need things in a hurry. Couldn't ask for better service!
I ordered 8 large 8x10 company logo edible images for a large corporate cake order. Not only were the images crisp and clear but the shipping speed was amazing! I needed it within a weeks time and it came in 3 days. They sent out the order almost immediately after placing it, which was quick and efficient. I Will continue to recommend and purchase from here!

Hi Morgan, thanks so much for your lovely review! Weāre glad the proofs arrived promptly and that the ordering process was quick and easy. It was a pleasure working with you!
The icing sheet was a breeze to put on. The wafer paper ended up buckling when I first put it on due to the humidity in my fridge. I was able to resolve this by keeping it in the fridge for about 30 minutes off of the cake then flattening it under a heavy book until the following morning. It worked perfectly after that and did not buckle again.
Thanks for sharing this helpful tip! Weāre glad the icing sheet settled nicely after a little time off the cake and stayed flat. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
